(3Ders.org) The UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) has just launched MAPP, a new Future Manufacturing Hub geared towards further developing advanced powder manufacturing processes. MAPP, which stands for Manufacture using Advanced Powder Processes, will seek to push forward research and technology in the field of powder-based manufacturing to reduce cost, energy consumption, and waste for high quality manufacturing techniques. MAPP’s research could help to advance powder-based additive manufacturing processes.
MAPP, as a EPSRC Future Manufacturing Hub, is ultimately seeking to conduct research that will help advance and secure British manufacturing productivity. “The EPSRC Future Manufacturing Hubs are key element in our approach to tackling the UK’s productivity gap and solving some of the longer term challenges faced by the UK’s manufacturing industry,” said Iain Todd, MAPP Director and Royal Academy of Engineering Chair Professor.
